GolfLogix Golf GPS iPhone Application Review

Posted by Golf GPS Systems

Today’s post is our first review of a smart phone golf GPS application — specifically the GolfLogix iPhone app. The GolfLogix iPhone application is a free download and includes a 24 hour guest membership. A regular membership after that is $39.95 per year.

The GolfLogix app shows yardages to the front, center and back of every green along with yardages to hazards, doglegs and layups. It can also be configured to track any or all of a large number of stats.

Although I love the GolfLogix iPhone application, I still have reservations in using my iPhone as a golf GPS system. Rain and the physical banging around are my two biggest concerns.

Izzo Golf Swami 1500 Golf GPS System Review

Posted by Golf GPS Systems

Izzo Golf recently sent me a Swami 1500 golf GPS system to review. The Izzo Golf Swami 1500 is the least expensive standalone golf GPS system available today. Now anyone can have a golf GPS system for under the price of two dozen Titleist ProV1 golf balls!

The Swami 1500 only has one feature — the most important feature of any golf GPS system. It accurately displays the distance to the front, center and back of every green.

OnPar Touchscreen Golf GPS System Review

Posted by Golf GPS Systems

The OnPar Touchscreen is a full featured golf GPS system. Setup is easy to understand using the quick start guide and the touchscreen makes for an enjoyable user experience.

The OnPar gives you the distance to the front, center and back of every green like any of the other golf GPS systems. It also displays a graphical overhead view of the hole layout which is instrumental in helping you visualize and plan your shots. From this view you can touch any spot on the hole and get both the yardage to that spot and the yardage to the pin from that spot. The OnPar features a scorecard that allows you to record your score, number of putts and whether you hit the fairway and green in regulation for each hole. The shot tracking feature enables you to track each shot and the club you used. The OnPar then calculates your minimum, maximum and average distances that you have hit each club. You can sync the information from your OnPar to your PC for future analysis.

Garmin GolfLogix GPS-8 Review

Posted by Golf GPS Systems

The Garmin GolfLogix GPS-8 is a no frills golf GPS system that is extremely easy to use. So easy in fact, that after the initial setup, the Garmin GolfLogix GPS-8 is practically turn it on and go!

The Garmin GolfLogix GPS-8 displays the distance to the front, center and back of every green along with the distances to hazards and layup yardages. It will also tell you the distance of your last shot. It does not have the touchscreen, hole flyovers and game analysis of other golf GPS systems. The Garmin GolfLogix GPS-8 is perfectly comfortable offering the core features. This is because it executes this core features almost flawlessly! Turn the system on and it automatically knows what course you are on. It also automatically advances to the next hole.
